What the hell? My truck is a lot larger and heavier and I get a constant 11-12 mpg no matter how I drive. I can get upwards of 13 if I really baby it. I think there might be somethin' wrong with your truck... lol

and my parents were afraid it would leave me (a 16 year old with no mechanic prowess) stranded.

Anyway, first vehicle.. '50 Chevy 3100, my "project" truck. Haven't touched it in a while...
Then I got my '78 Bronco, and I also have a '72 Chevy Monte Carlo that I use as a DD, when it's not broke. :headbang: smilietease

First one was a 74 Camaro, well used up. I learned a lot from that car, as it needed most everything... I needed quick change mounts for the motor and transmission... Last motor in it was a 64 327, that really got with it until the trans failed 3rd gear, then it wiped out the rod bearings when I drove it home anyway, even though I babied it home...

1st? 1964 Ford Country Sedan (station wagon) in a dark plum color 289/auto

1st new? 1972 Plymouth Gold Duster Black with gold snakeskin vinyl half-roof 225 six/ 3 spd on the floor. $2541 out the door.

Ernie's 442 was too expensive for a college kid working part-time making $1.70/hour.

Traded-in the Duster for a new '75 Mustang II Mach 1 Yellow/Black V6 w/ 4 spd. Think the price was around $2875

My first truck was the 85 and ive had it since I was 12 or 13. Dad bought it originally and had it painted the color thats on it back in the early 90s it got stripped down to the metal and had to get a few panels replaced. Cost dad 3000 bucks at the time. He drove it around a few years (I remember gettin picked up in it from preschool). Then my grandmas samari blew up so he gave it to her for 8 or 9 years till she said it was gettin too big to handle so we swapped her an escort hatchback and brought it home. We then rebuilt the motor and dad would drive it to work but he said it was mine. I drove it around the field and learned how to drive a stick that way. I also drove it to school when I was 15 and taught myself to parallel park in it. Heres a couple pictures of how it looked a few years ago.
