If the valve covers are gunna be off, a set of Cobra 1.7:1 rocker arms would be a nice, realitivly cheap upgrade. Adds a little more lift/duration without the hassle of a cam swap and the stock valvetrain wont be compromised. Also a set of headers and full exhaust will wake it up a bit.As for...
As said before, installing a body lift properly is more than just putting on some blocks to space the body from the frame. With whatever lift u decide to get, make sure it comes with a dropped pitman arm for the steering, front leaves, brackets and any assocciated drop brackets (sway bar and...
Take off the dealer sticker on the tailgate, dress the plastics and it'll look almost new. Did u buff the headlights yet?I try to keep my trucks cleaned up so i dont have to spend hrs upon hrs doing it (well i dont worry about my 88).
Short but important list to look for:
- Rust...radiator support, wheel wells, bottom of the front fenders, rear leaf spring hangers n shackles, cab corners if an extended cab, bottom of the tailgate, fuel tanks, coil/shock buckets on the frame, bottom edge of the doors on the inside, inner wheel...
This cam from Crane works really well on a fuelie 300 (its what i am running): http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-503901/
No need for any valve train mods either. Just have the valve springs checked for proper installed height and all. I would also replace the phenolic gears with a set of...
Mine runs like a raped ape, i have a mildy built fuelie 300 and been runnin it for years. Ask away.I need to refer to my notebook of suitable fuelie head mods before i can recommend anything but i would suggest a 3 angle valve job.
38.5s is a lot of tire for either engine with stock gears...my friend has a 95 F250 with a 351/ZF/4:10s and runs 40"s and its aqaquate but dogs a lot on hills.Gotta weigh ur options here...first is there anything wrong with ur 300? Second is cost, to buy and at the very least freshen up n...
4600s (yellow) are stock replacements, 5100s (alm finish) are for lifted and the 5150s (alm finish) are 5100s in custom valving and lenghts.I have the 5100/5150 combo on my 93 F150and they are awsome. I have the 4600s on my 88 F350 and they totally changed the ride. Albiet i had stock 24 yr...
Sorry but that looks tacky. I would get replacements or clear taillights with the black housing. Actually stockers look best on ur truck, keeps it looking clean.
I also had issues where the starter relay/solenid on the inner fender isnt grounded properly. make sure the attatching bolts are tight. if u are still having issues u can try to jump the solenoid but that is kind of dangerous.Start with cleaning the battery cable connections, check for loose...
i have never seen a half ton ford with 4:10s except for lightnings. if u are unsure on the gear ratio of the donor either pull off the cover and count the teeth on both sets of gears and divide em or a simplier way is to spin the pinion and count how many turns it takes to drum to make one full...
u can remove the auto shifter and replace it with the cover off ur manual column. u will need to switch the cover anyway to put ur old tumbler in and put the key release button in. really not hard to do.
Yup, in 1997 with the new body style F-150 Ford offered basically a heavy half ton, with 7 lug wheels, slightly heavier suspension. So to seperate the two the OBSs were F-250HDs.So what ya got is a normal OBS F-250.
