    Driveline growl

2005 6.0 4x4. In the last month or so it has developed a driveline related growl that starts at about 10mph and seems to either go away or is muffled my engine/tire noise at 45mph. It seems to be coming from the left front wheel area. I did a little online research and ended up changing the...

Parts you want to GIVE away!

If you have 4.10s now you'll be fine. That carrier will work with the 3.54s.

    Has to happen to-do list...

I finally got my 79 out after 6-8 months of sitting, some bowl gaskets for the Holley cured the fuel leak and lots of driving and fresh gas added when possible has her whipped back into shape. Still needs a wheel seal on the drivers rear though.I parked it with full tanks and stabil in each...

    4" lift

For the least amount of money try eBay.But as I said the 78-79 f150 steering is much better. The 77 and older trucks use a different style of pitman arm to drag link connection, and a dropped one of those may be hard to find.I'd hit up some junkyards for the updated steering setup, be...

    Opinions please

My '05 6.0 PSD has a full turbo back Magnaflow 4" system and I'm happy with it. It was a little more affordable than MBRP and the install was cake. I'm currently running no muffler and no cat.I deleted the egr system last year after the headgaskets got replaced, the oil cooler was replaced...

    4" lift

Off the top of my head, extended brake lines, steering correction (dropped pitman arm......well possibly upgrade to the 78-79 steering linkage), and longer shocks if they're not included.I may be missing some items but I'm sure that others will chime in with what I missed.FYI, Rough...

    Fuel system advice

It's too late now, but once you get your truck healthy consider doing the "blue spring upgrade". It's a factory Ford mod that increases the fuel pressure to the injectors. http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/general-6-0l-discussion/212762-blue-spring-mod.htmlAnother thing to consider doing is...

    I like this truck

I thought that it looked familiar, it was in Diesel Power a while back. Guy claims he has 160k into it.

Haven't done any poser shots in a while...

I could live with the wheels, not the hideous Boss 302 looking stripe though.

    Coolant gauge

There are no coolant passages in the intake on a 400.There's a plug in on the drivers side of the water pump, that should be a good spot.

    High Output alternators

A 3g alternator should suit your needs quite well. I put one on my '79 and the install is cake, and the 130amps that it's capable of is more than I'll ever need. I originally installed it to run the taurus fan that I used to have on the truck, and it kept up that with ease.

    Hey Duncan.....Relatives?

    That's pretty funny, ehh.
  21. UNRULEE

Duncan or Ben... dont get too hard.....

The day I finally get 4.56's in the 79, I'd be more than willing to do a North Dakota "showdown" with you. :)

    Should I be worried?

I've got the Sinister coolant filter kit on my PSD. It's a quality kit that's priced decent. Yes, the hoses are crimped, but really, it'll take many, many years for a hose to go bad. If one does pop, turn the valves off at the filter and find a place to make you a new one........or buy some...

Diesel 'scurges are awsome!!! Nice Ride!!!!I'd get bigger meats and at least swap the headlights for 05-07 Harley Edition headlights. If you have the cash a full 05-07 Super Duty front end swap (headlights, grill and bumper) would really look great.

    Block Heater

My 79 250 has two block heaters in it, you can almost feel heat from the heater without it running! Seriously though, they are a must have when it gets cold, for ANY vehicle. All 4 of my vehicles have one (or two).

    Diesel War Numbers, Chevrolets turn...

This isn't a gas vs diesel debate......and all diesel motors are junk, other than the 5.9 cummins and the 7.3?

    New addition to the fleet.

Looks like we'll be getting an '08 Expy Limited in Tri-coat white to replace the wifes Maxima. It has absolutly everything, Navigation, heated and cooled leather, rear dvd, power folding steps, EVERYTHING. Very plush family cruiser!
