I had tried to put a 2 barrel carb on my 1984 ford ranger 2.3 and it would not work. Went back to the 1 barrel but the truck never had a air cleaner on it... I NEED one that will fit on it. I have NO IDEA as to the correct one for that year and engine.. ANY HELP? I was told it was the heat riser...
I had the wrong thermostat in it is all. I just got the same one that was installed by the previous owner thought it was the right one....WRONG So all this was a waste of time.
She has a lift on her already. Maybe that's what I need to do is drop in a v8. Still a costly conversion im figuring. I'm also figuring maybe a rebuild with turbo
Darn my 2.3 just sucks and I don't have much money to play with. And I'm at a loss of what is the best way to go. I want more power but want the easiest to accomplish it.
The thermo was the problemWell Guys it was MY FAULT!!!! I took the truck in yesterday to a mechanic for a tune up... Had him look at a few things while it was in there....Anyway it was the thermostat the whole time. It was the first thing I replaced! It was the wrong one. Not knowing there are...
had a idea I am going to ad a 12 volt RV water pump to my heater hose from the pump and when I turn my heater on it will turn on the pump and pump the water through the core... This is the weakest pumping system I have ever seen.
well that didn't work either blows cold air at hwy speeds too. ill get air out of system like before and I will just have to live with this idle problem. I was hoping the finger vane pump would push more water. This ranger is the worst rig I've played with I am about to sell it.
I thought is was working anyway........I am changing pumps today to a full finger vane pump, in the hopes it pumps more water. Everything is free flowing no ex-strictions anywhere! I'll will try this and see what happens. she heats fine when going down the highway at speed, but at an idle cold...
Good point guys THANKS Think I will keep my regular turns in then. VERY GOOD ADVICE! I do want to do my dash lights (blue) though and dome lite (clear)!
I did the conversion its ok has some mounting probs but the biggie was the adjustment screw for the steering box... had to grind most of it off to make the pump belt not get ripped apart.
I want to convert my 84 ranger to LED! I am now under the impression I can't just change bulbs. I want to change dome-flashers-tail-turn-dash- headlites not sure yet. HELP?:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
I am wanting to convert to led lighting to my 84 ranger. I bought some new led dash lights but was told they will burn out real quick UNLESS I put in a resistor or limiter (I think its called) on the outside end of fuse wire to EACH lighting application....Dash lites-tail lites-reverse lites-...
UPDATE---- going to stick with my setup 2.3 going to replace my NEW one barrel and get a holley 350 2 barrel with another manifold with a new flow master exhaust system. I have some race track friends that race these 2.3s in their dirt track cars.
The fluid is always full reservoir full, all the lines are clear new heater core, 160 thermostat, New water pump. She blows out warm air now, but hardly any at a idle. I just purchased another pump online A Cardone W/FINGER vanes. Going to see if it will pump better than those round vaned pumps...
Another delemaI did my steering swap. Had some trouble along the way. I couldn't find right bracket so modified one had to replace the fuel pump (steering pump in the way) with a inline electric fuel pump and after all that tried to put belt on and the adjustment for gearbox was 3/4 high so I...
Well I have the power steering in and works good had all new pitman and rod ends put in. Had to eliminate the fuel pump and put a inline electric one in. But boy the little guy just has no power with the one barrel to bad I just bought it brand new... My dilemma know I WANT MORE POWER what could...
I was told a 2.9 might work..... I am wondering about putting in a 302 like you suggested. I have seen a few around and have even had one in a boat and she sounded real nice.. I just might go that route. Id imagine bell housing tranny and rear end would have to change too, considering they where...
Thanks good to know,, I'll try that too. I am a fly by my pants guy... Now I am thinking of throwing in a bigger engine.. I have the stock 4 speed manual.... What could I put in easily? Could I put the v-6 in it?
