My 03 5.4 Super Duty goes through ignition coils like crazy. It has about 170,000 miles on it and I've replaced at least 5 coils. I'm thinking of replacing the whole set with MSD or Accel, and installing them with dilectric gel on the boots to keep out contaminants which aren't doing the coils any good. The MSD and Accel coils are much cheaper than OEM and might last longer. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated !

DON'T! I will tell you right now you are going to want to replace them with Borg Warner from Orielly Auto parts $43. Lifetime warranty.

When one goes out it seems like they all start I replaced all 8 of mine within 4 weeks of eachother...

Thanks for the tip. Any good ( easy ) way to find the bad one ?

Easiest way is to start the truck (IF NO CODES HAVE POPPED) and start unplugging them. if you don't notice a difference then that is the one. I will tell you that #3 #4 and #8 on these are prone to go faster. I have noticed on mine anyway. The main thing I have noticed is the VERY bad plug design is weak and breaks at the coil itself quite a bit.
