0371 - 2007-2008 F-150 4.6l Only - Cold Start Backfire/hesitation - No Dtcs
Some 2007-2008 F-150 Vehicles, With 4.6l Engine Only, May Exhibit A Rough Running, Hesitation And/or Induction Backfire During The First Drive Away Event Following An Overnight Or Extended Soak, With No Dtcs Present. This Would Only Occur On The First Start After An Extended Cold Soak With Ambient Temperature Below 60 F (16 C). The Event Will Last 20-40 Seconds And Operation Will Return To Normal Once The Vehicle Enters Closed Loop. Engineering Is Aware Of The Condition And Is Working To Resolve By 1st Quarter 2008. Advise Customers The Condition May Be Related To Seasonal Transitions In Local Fuel Quality. Customers Should Use A Different Fuel Source And Allow The Vehicle To Idle For One Minute Or More Before Shifting Out Of Park/neutral. Continue To Monitor Oasis For Updates.
