WTB: generation 6 4x4 short bed

Looking for the best power/performance drive train for this generation??? Not planning on a lot of heavy towing. I'm thinking This era will be better for power than Gen 8??
Any thoughts? Thanks for reading!

No replacement for displacement...460. The LEB sponsors here can get you 450hpish turn key 460 for less than $5k.

How many 1973/79's came with a 460 and 4WD? None.

1983 was the first year that the 460 was available with 4WD and a M/T, F250/350 only.

460 not available in F100 after 1976, not available in F150 after 1979. 1979 F150's sold new in CA were not available w/a 460.

I agree Bill...I didn't see that the OP said anywhere that he strictly wanted a factory swap. The 460 has to be the single most done swap to the 73-79 ford tucks, and with a very little know how, isn't that difficult.

One of the best shortbeds that I've seen on ebay in a long time. Considering you want a shortbed it was only available in a half ton configuration. Aside from the fact they drilled into the bed for that cover I don't see much else wrong with it and think it is worth his BIN price.

That '78 looks real clean, well bought!

I'd be fine with a 429, but could make the 460 swap and keep the 429 for a latter restoration........these truck look great in relatively stock trim.
