Lol, ok so after further investigation it seems my actual CEL is never coming on. the light I had assumed was the CEL is apparently an oil pressure warning light. It has a little engine picture and says "check", however right next to it there is a light that says "check engine" and it never...
Ha ok if yall say so:) It just seems coincidental that the exact second the oil pressure gauge moves is the same instant the light goes out.Hopefully tommrow I can try pulling codes with a test light. On a side note, there are two relays right there by the two 'puter connectors, I believe...
Ha I realize that but when I go out to crank the truck, I turn the key to "on", glow plugs cycle, Cel comes on never goes out till the oil pressure gauge moves(about a second after the motor fires.).
Having said this it never flashed or even blinked once when I grounded the STI connector.Ill...
Allright well after attempting exactly what it says on above link, and after thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that my CEL is merely a glorified low or no oil pressure light. I dont know if it makes a difference but this is, as i said in the op, a 7.3 idi. I havent tried the test...
Ok cool. Can anybody point me in the right direction of how to check the codes? (I do have the haynes manual for the 80-96s if thatll be any help, dont know if the diesels are different).Gabe
Finally back after my brief foolishness with somehow believing I could drive a 68 Mustang instead of a truck. lol. The ponys gone and got replaced with a 91 F350 XLT Lariat Crew dually, with a 7.3 and a brand spankin new( well 1200 miles) E4OD. I love it so far but recently it occurred to me...
Yeah i didnt figure a factory bed would fit, and this is exactly what i was thinking. prolly build it mostly oak and make it look good:beer: . Gotta keep the woman happy and if it aint pretty she aint to happy lolthanks!
From the sound of it its definitly a rod knocking and it didnt sound good at all. Definitly not just a timing issue. but im thinking windsor is gonna be the way to go. im kinda on the market for a 67-8 Mustang to put the 390 back in so i think ill keep it for that. But if i go 351 can i run my...
So for no apparent reason my perfectly running stock 302 suddenly began knocking pretty badly. I had just replaced the 2bbl intake and carb with a 4bbl and it was sitting there idiling while i was adjusting the carb, sounded fine, no smoke no idle issues , nothing. When all the sudded it just...
Thanks for the ideas and advice guys, its much appreciated. The truck wont get used for a whole lot, the most would be it might pull a horse trailer occasionally or a boat, but nothin to serious.I guess at this point this is my last question and that is apparently its like 143 inches long...
Yup actually they said they went through the motor whenthetrannywas done as well andits clean so id give it a definite maybe ;) Butyeah just a cab\chassis.
We as the title says i found a 90 F-350 dually 2wd with a NA 7.3\auto. Apparently it has about 180k on it. bodys solid, frames great, interior is also in pretty good shape. It was\still is a uhaul truck, for sale at the uhaul dealer(apparently nobody wanted the oil burners anymore, theyve got...
I do have one question though, in the first pic of the link it says if you remove the cover for the squirrel cage that you have ruined your unit, well my cover has several bolts going thru that flange holding it on so its pretty obvious that its been off at some point. Just how does this "ruin"...
Thanks for all the great info guys! Especially you Ben, that link is great! I been puttin it off long enough and now its gettin cold here I guess im headed out to see what kinda mess I can make... hahahaThanks again, Gabe
How does it come out? I'm pretty sure its one of these deals in any case:hammer: lol.But my shop manual doesn't say and i tried to search on here but didn't come up with anything helpful so I figured one of yall can help me out. Thanks guys. Oh and it is factory AC with a regular cab so no...
Your tellin me, I've been workin on pullin a few little things, as well as the motor\tranny and its tough. Especially when I pulled the shifter.... That was many a fun stoplight :D
Hahahaha, I'll just pretend I didn't see Charles post....Sweet find on that r-12 there Dak! And yea, I also have a similar friend who has many old cans, and a pair of 30lb tanks of it(He keeps it around for his 84 Grand Wagoneer). Gotta find that stuff somewhere :D Believe it or not though...
I can't say on how they were building them by 77, but my buddy has a 64 Ranchero, and it sounds terrible every morning when you cut it on, but after about 30 seconds ya can't even hear it. Its been like that for years...Maybe see if you could soak the shaft with some pb blaster and get a...
Hahaha, yea thats what I do most of the time anyway, but theres times when the AC is nice :D And also the same problem applys to the heat so it'd be good to get it fixed for that to.Dak, are you still runnin r-12 in yours? or have you converted? Mines still R-12, and while its cold, I think...
Pretty much parts only. Although the frame(I think) is straight and is solid as a rock. The motor and tranny are out, 9" is loose, I will pull it unless whoever get the truck wants it, I also pulled the seat, but other than that, the heater box just got rebuilt(new blower\heater core\painted)...
