1970 ford truck

Today my truck spewed out tranny fluid and stopped moving. Pulled it over and there is what looks like water in the fluid. Got it home but wondering what's up. Any suggestions?

Idk could be a few things. When was the last time trans was serviced? I'd say its probably been ran off in a deep puddle and got water in that way.

Is the coolant in your radiator low.

Welcome To FTF bigb...first place to check...have the radiator pressure tested,sounds like the coolant tank is leaking into the transmission cooler of the radiator..you may also see transmission fluid in the coolant...

But a trans cooler leak I would think the transfluid would look more like antifreeze mixed in.

^^^ correct in therory Chris...but maybe he is from a warmer climate and running water instead of coolant...more info is needed....

Chris keep in mind those who are less fortunate will do anything to keep their vehicle running reguardless what the book recommends...when you do this type of work as long as i have,you have to learn to think out of the box so to speak in order to help those type of individuals...
