Bill, the 3 speed automatic that came with the FE engines, pre c-6 era, were they the FMX or what? Just curious.

Was that the Cruise O matic or FMX?

Well...they weren't FMX's cuz that trans wasn't introduced till 1969.

1958/65 FE: FX Cruise-O-Matic (aka small Cruise-O) offered on 332 and some 352's depending on the application.

Most C-O-M's from this time frame were MX's, once known as the BIG Cruise-O.

First C6: 1966. Came as standard equipment on 428 T-Birds, optional on other models with 428's and 390's.

Last FX/MX Cruise-O: 1967.

The FMX was introduced in 1969 along with the 351W. Used in passenger cars only thru 1979 with one exception:

1973/77 F350's with 300 I-6's used FMX's.
