429 builds?

I might have a chance at getting my hands on a 429 2v i was wondering what kind of builds there are for this motor.

Well if it's going in a truck, a crank and pistons to turn it into a 460...no replacement for displacement. Probably a .040 overbore. Straight up timing of course. Throw a 4bbl combo on there...nothing less than 650cfm (600cfm was stock for 460's). Don't know a good cam selection for a carbed 385. I would opt for Thorley headers. Depending on the cam selection, and what year the 429 is...you could easily expect hp in the 350-400 range and tq approaching the 500 range. And that would be an easy cheap build.

What Ben said is really good, the 429 was more of a race engine, so if your wanting to have a bad ass street truck i'd build it to be a screamer.. but if your going to use it in your trail rig that mostly top end 429 might leave you wanting more, i'd opt for the 460 and that big low end grunt ...
