Dana 44 front

What is the different between a Dana 44 and a high pinion Dana 44?How do I tell what I have? Will the carrier and gears from one fit it either?

It is where the pinion exits the diff housing, either at the top or bottom. The gears will not interchange as the high pinion are reverse cut....I'm not sure on the carrier, I'm guessing that the carrier will work, but there isa break on those I believe at 3.92

HP D44 the dshaft will meet the housing at or above the centerline...LP44 will be below. It's that simple to see the difference.

So let me get this right. If the driveshaft it closer to the top of the frontend it is a HP.And if it is in the middle it is a reg Dana 44.Right??

Yes, but it is closer to the bottom than the center though.
