Looking for help about my new 1972 ranger xlt. There is no paint code on data plate and the ford paint color’s available in 1972 don’t show black. Any ideas why this truck is like this?

May be repainted looking at the sills. Nice truck! Are you going to change the rims back to stock?

Yes. Stock wheels are planned. What do you see on the seals that would indicate a repaint?

It definitely has had some kind of paint work, white paint overspray on the door pillar by the lower door hinge. If it is a color change, they did a good job with the repaint. It is surprising to me to see black was not offered, although the factory may have done an exception, hard to say.

I see the slight overspray. There is none on the passenger side though. I don’t believe it has been color changed as Everywhere is black, even under rubber moldings. The white or beige could have been added??? A mystery I may not fully know. I’ve ordered a marti report in hopes to learn more. Thank you for your thoughts.

Got the 72 running with a carb rebuild, points and condenser and a wheel cylinder on a left front. Drives like new ( except for the square tires) no rattles or squeaks. The paint really cleaned up nice.
