Remember this area of scaredom on the Mark?

I decided to man up and tackle it. My first test was just to run a heavy compound over it. Not very noticeable progress, so out came the sand paper.

That's the trick! As you can very well notice, the paint is coming back to life.

And then some more...

And should be something like this come daylight.

You da Man, Austin! What grit sandpaper did you use, or is that a trade secret?

Thank ya sir! I don't carry many trade secrets, other than my special compound mixture. :wasntme:

I hit it with a 1500 grit wet, then followed with 2000 wet.

I'd love it if you would do a YouTube tutorial on wetsanding oxidation out. I'm extremely nervous about putting sandpaper anywhere near my paint, even if it is crappy and leaves a lot to be desired.

Ditto on video and nervous! Would love to see you do it.

Headed back out this morning to get some more done. I'm not sure if I want to continue or not, considering sure is scary sanding on my own car!

Here's a quick wipe down after wet sanding. Note that this is about as far as I want to go with sanding. I might follow up with a little more to feather it in.

This is mainly what I want to get rid of, but it seems to be the most stubborn spot.

Run the buffer over it and the fully sanded areas shine up nicely, with the oxidation remaining.

Even though I'm not terribly excited with the results, it still makes a big difference.

I haven't gone through the clear based on the residue from sanding... but I don't see why I couldn't re-clear the panel if I needed to.

Oh, and by the way, this has turned into me wet sanding the entire car. What have I got myself into?!
