New Member & question

Hello All:

First time new member . I'll try & get pictures up soon? I have a 1979 F100 Custom that I've had about 4 months? I'm the 3d owner. It has 100, 565 original miles. All original except for custom grill (which I have replacement original for). 2d owner bought truck in a 1980 with 10k on it. He was in the process of a restoration in 2001 when he had a heart attack & was unable to complete. The truck was a driver & stayed in the garage mostly for next 10 years. Has a 11 year old paint job that mostly looks new. I've recently had new tires put on & some work done on brakes, vc gaskets & belts. He (po) had a small cam put it original engine & dual exhausts installed. Runs great. I have some small issues to fix. A/c doesn't work & blinker lights on dash (turn signals work outside. Anyone have any experience with this issue ???????

A few small places on paint job to repair. I know the shop that did original job.

check your dash cluster grounds,,bulbs, condition of the cluster & circuit board.i had this issue and went to another cluster assembly to fix it.

Those are called indicator lights.

Time for a cluster check up.

UR replies bring another question? What do you check on the dash cluster? I've replaced the circuit board with a new one and all the bulbs (8 ?) I think?

BTW , I live in Stallings, NC right south of Charlotte. (5 miles)

Welcome aboard!! Sounds like you have a nice truck. What motor
and transmission do you have? About your grill the custom ones look good too.
I have 1978 F-150 Ranger Lariat with a 351M/400 V8 with a Holley four barrel
carb on it and a C6 automatic transmission with a shift kit on it,
and dual pipes and fuel tanks, and I have a custom grill in mine as well

Motor & Trans

It's the original motor,trans & carb. 302, AUTO, (I haven't looked at the trans or carb to find out what kind yet. Yeah, the custom grill looks ok but it's getting some surface rust & it's hard to get your hand in to open the hood. Besides I have the new grill & surround & have to remove the old one for the body an to do some touch up painting .

Mine's a billet aluminum grill in my 78, and I don't have
any trouble opening the hood on mine , for the man that
I had bought the truck from made sure that I had a special
fish hook tool for that task, and he had made one for me.
All it is a piece of threaded ready rod about eight inches long
With a little J shaped hook, you can make one your self with a short
Piece of ready rod and two pairs of vise grips to bend the hook

LMC (My bad). Yes I ordered the wrong one first & had to reorder. Where does the cluster ground ? I drove it last night & none of the lights work in dash except for bright/dim one. Still the same problem I hd b4 I replaced it & all the little white bulbs ?
