Rebuilding 302

We are fixing to rebuild a 302 and replace my brothers 300-6 in his 79 f150 with it..... will his manual transmission thats bolted to his 300-6 bolt to a 302 ?

And , he is rebuilding it back stock , but he wants to throw in a few mods..... what would be a good cam to throw in it? he wants it to be hitting a good lick. Hes also gonna put some headers on it and a aluminum intake.
