You'd think I'm a full-time detailer or something...

A bird shti on my 78 F250 and it seemed to etch the paint. I tried the waterless wash on it and didn't help. Got any suggestions ? I might take it up towhere I bought the paint and show it to them.( when i an drive again).

I can usually knock out 4 or 5 full details before calling it a day. Most of the work I do is performed by machine, so my arms might be a little sure at the end of a long day.

In mathematical terms...Austin's work/Ben's driveway=1 day.

I'm glad you said that. Is detailing/refurbishing something Hertz does in-house?

When we tag a car for BD (body damage), it get's assessed at the airport and decided whether to do it in house or send it out. Majority of damage is similar to what you're describing in this thread, and it's done in-house. The next level is a sub dent repair, then to a regular body shop of the level after that.

There's a spectacular amount of BD cars that come through. Typically 40-50 a week, and that's just the airport. Our facility is about a mile away, and we manage the airport, the local Portland offices, and the Eugene Airport- so we're the repair facility for all these offices. We have techs, body, and electronics people on the payroll.

FWIW, Enterprise has a similar setup. Some inhouse, some subbed out, depending on the level of damage. You just need to know where the central servicing facilities are, as opposed to the rental stations. Typically, the Corporate Offices.

Mark - I don't know too much about etched paint, so I'm no good for info.

Ernie - thanks for the info; I've wondered about how this stuff was handled.

Detailed a buddy's car today. It usually lives under a tarp, but he's going back to school in a few days - it's detail time!

Quick wipe down and vacuum inside.

Washed with the two bucket method, buffed, polished, and ready to go! (sans tire shine... threw that on later)
