360 rebuild cost vs crate?

It can be done at home but its probly better for the machine shop to do. Also take the block, crank, rods, pistons and main caps. Talk with the guys there and if theyre a good shop theyll set ya up with the right cam package.

$2200 for a bolt in 390, with 400HP, where is the here is your sign smilie? I wouldn't fool with a 360 for that price. (Pulled a few out in my younger days to put a 390 in its place, a stock 390 is a snow plow motor extradorinare)

I'd price a 460 while I was at it. Don't know about crate motors, but they seem to run about the same used as the other variations, and should bolt right in.

[confused] A 460 bolts where a 360/390 goes? Did I miss something?

Only if you change the tranny Roger, you didn't miss a thing.

I knew that, just thought perhaps I overlooked something, like a different vehicle being talked about than what the 360 came from... Takes a bit of messing around to park an FE where a 460/400 was and the other way as well.
